Creating an Effective Cover Letter

Tips:

  • Cover letters are a critical part of an employer's decision in hiring you. Spend the time to make them showcase you well.
  • All applicants' cover letters to a given job, show up side by side on an employer's applicant listing. Are you looking your best?
  • Generic cover letters and template cover letters that have not been customized hurt your chances of getting hired. Don't send them! Ever.
  • Make the cover letters short and concise. 300 letters or less and NO spelling errors!
